Requiem For a Tower

It's been a while since there's been a real update. I'll use the Ben's style: line by line.

No more Gateway. It was a tough decision, but a good one. Not interested in how computers work, not interested in tech. Like to use a computer, but don't care about a computer itself. Now I'm working two part-time jobs: one still at the Pig, the other with Keebler with my dad's friend. I like the Keebler job: it's nice and simple, and actually becoming a little fun. I'd like to get out of the Pig though; maybe I'll get a chance at full-time status with Keebler (if I get faster at the job)?

My dad's friend's name is Barry, and he's an alright guy. He got married on November 11th, and I was privileged to be a Eucharistic Minister at the wedding Mass. Powerful experience there.

Back in August, I saw Collective Soul in concert at the State Fair. It was EXCELLENT. I bought a couple of their CD's after that show. Heh, I felt a bit of a fool though. I once owned one of their CD's, but in my minimalist years, I rummaged it along with several other CD's (including all of my Metallica CD's). D--umb.

A perhaps even better concert took place at our parish this last Saturday. Tatiana performed her Christmas concert (a bit early, I know), and it was MORE EXCELLENT. She might be coming back next year for her Lenten concert. Our church was almost full on Saturday; next time, it will be overflowing.

Football season is great. Sure, the Pack stinks, but watching several games at the same time at the Brat Shop is awesome. Add some fantasy football, toss in a couple of White Russians (drinks, not people), and you got a good ole time.

I've met some cool people in the Kenosha area: Brian, Eric, Mark, Laura, etc. Brian is the Youth Minister of St. Mary and St. Therese, and leads a band called Crossroads. Every 1st Tuesday, they have what's called a "Festival of Praise." It's pretty much a Charismatic service for young people/teens, with lots of contemporary Christian music. I'm not a huge fan of this music (personal tastes), but I like the fellowship. Eric is the band's drummer, and is also in a couple of other bands. Anyway, I don't know what the future holds for my friendships here, as I have felt a little uncomfortable when I'm with them, not like the Augustinians. Oh well, we'll see as time goes on.

A more serious matter: discernment. Wow has that come to a screeching halt. I've maintained some contact with the Augustinians. In fact, I stayed over at the novitiate the night before Thanksgiving. But I'm not feeling the call. Good people though. Maybe I'll be a third-order Augustinian. The best part of this whole thing has been befriending Brothers Robert and Kevin. I can, and have done as such, talk with Robert for hours, about really deep stuff, stuff that's just sitting in both of our heads and doesn't usually get an outlet (well, for me, anyway) (oh, side note: with John, I can express what's in my heart, but not necessarily my head). They're both in the D.C. right now, in school. I might go visit them during Spring Break (uh oh, must avoid eye contact with John...).

Oh, and, uh, I turned 26 on the 19th. What a strange large number after that 2. Relatively speaking, I'm not old at all, and it bothers me when non-old people say they're old. But I'll tell you what, this is the oldest I've ever been. And you are the oldest you've ever been too. So, get over it.

Well that was fun. Maybe I'll do this more often. And maybe I won't. OH, before I forget, I heard some awesome music on YouTube. Check it out:

The music is a remixed track from the soundtrack of Requiem For a Dream. It was remixed for use in the movie trailer of Two Towers. This user-made video itself is pretty good too, featuring CGI clips from Warcraft III and World of Warcraft. The last 1:10 in particular is VERY good. Yeah, geekiness isn't all bad.

If Star Wars is more your thing, check this one out:

Very nice. Good storytelling.

Ok, I'm out.

P.S. Did you check out the paintings below? They're wonderful. Bouguereau is officially my favorite artist.
